Today I am presenting one of the Indian Tribal Art – Warli Painting. I made this painting sometime back and thought I should share it with you all. Hope you like this art piece!

Warli Painting

Giving a brief overview about Warli Painting:

India is a country best known for its dynamic culture, its portrays many different customs and traditions. Each state has their own distinct cultural and traditional identities which they try to display through different mediums like language, dance, food, dresses, paintings etc.  Subject of Indian folk painting is as diverse as its  culture itself.  One of the many famous Indian folk painting is Warli painting which is persistent in state of Maharshtra. It depicts the daily and social events of Warli tribe in Maharashtra.

Warli Painting showing temple in center, people dancing, marriage ceremony, men working in fields, women gathered around weaving baskets, children playing and various other daily activities.

Chauk or Chukat depicting Temple of Mother Goddess

 

I think it depicts men and women dancing together, some textbook also suggest that it represents circle of life.
